any tips on my website design?

my website is and i just created it for my tutoring business. i have only really worked on the main page and the "meet the tutors page." i am a beginner at making websites. does it look okay? any way to make it better? i am using dreamweaver

It’s not bad for a first attempt. It needs some cleanup and possibly a rethink on the colour scheme.

1.) The navigation is unreadable. You should consider adding this code to the css in the head:

<style type="text/css">
a { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; color: #FFFFCC; text-decoration: none; }
a:hover { color: #99CCFF; }
a:visited { color: #FFCC66; }

This changes the links to light yellow, bold, arial fonts. Light blue when you move the mouse over them and dark yellow when they’ve been visited.

2.) The calculator feels like a gimmick… it doesn’t add anything and it’s not lined up correctly for Firefox & Safari. It doesn’t look good. It’s also very slow to reload after clicking on the ‘Get Widget’ button.

3.) Typo on MeetTheTutors.html "In addition so Spanish" should be "In addition to Spanish,"

In addition the color scheme seems quite busy, if you remove the margins on the <body> tag I think it will clear up a lot…

Just my 2 cents, definitely better than my first attempt! Keep designing and learning!
